JOEY STEVENTS IS GOING TO FLAGS!
Silver group’s Joey Stevens (11) achieved a Florida Age Group Championship (FLAG) cut at the Area 5 Championship this past weekend in Naples. Joey’s time of 27.94 (-.81 seconds) in the 11-12 50-yard Freestyle earned him a trip the big dance this weekend in Orlando. Joey had a very impressive meet as he also dropped time in the 100-yard Free with a 1:04.79 (-7.64) and the 200-yard Individual Medley with 2:59.90 (-41.25). Well done Joey! Best wishes for your trip to FLAGS.
SKYE SETS THREE TEAM RECORDS
Skye, pictured with seven time Olympic champion, Katie Ledecky, at the recent United States Swimming ‘Southern Zone South Sectional Championships’ held at the Rosen Aquatic & Fitness Center in Orlando; lowered three Cape Aquatics Long Course records. In the 100-meter Freestyle, Skye lowered the 15 – 16 Girls team record of 1:04.65, set in July of 2013 by Kasey Swartley with a time of 1:03.41 (AA). In the 400-meter Freestyle, 15-year-old Skye lowered the15 – 16 and Senior Girls team record, set by Monica Jaeger in April of 2011, by 10.93 seconds with a 4:40.66 (AAA). In the 1500-meter Freestyle, Skye bettered Monica Jaeger’s 15 – 16 and Senior record set in 2011 by 1:10.98 with a 18:29.16 (AAA).
SZSS DAY 2
The Swim Florida team at this year’s Southern Zone South Sectionals ~ Day 2, continued to produce new personal records. Emma Best, Izabella Wreski, Sophie Pellegrino and Skye Persechino combined to drop 1.12 seconds in the 200-meter Freestyle Relay entry time with a 1:57.74. Emma Best lowered her time in the 200-meter Individual Medley finishing in 2:36.01 (-1.99). Skye Persechino completed the 400-meter Freestyle in 4:40.66 (-1.06).
EMMA BEST SHINES AT SECTIONALS
Over seven hundred swimmers have merged in Orlando at the Southern Zone South Sectional Championships beginning today. Emma Best, in an event that included Olympian Katie Ledecky, the Senior 200-meter Freestyle, turned her best time at 2:16.12 (-2.60). In her next event, the 100-meter Butterfly, Emma stopped the clock with an new personal best 1:07.83 (-3.04).
